ScotlandsPeople Centre
Welcome to the ScotlandsPeople Centre
Anyone wishing to explore the fascinating world of Scottish family history can access digitised sources - birth, marriage and death records, wills, census records and coats of arms - going back almost 500 years. Staff are on hand to assist and information manuals are available. Our opening hours are Monday-Friday, 09:00-16:30. We have FREE introductory taster sessions between10:00-12:00 and 14:00-16:00. You can't pre-book; drop by and see if there are free seats. To pre-book a day search place, phone 0131 314 4300 or email (via our online Bookings form). By pre-paying you can go straight to your seat. Who Do You Think You Are? The next event that the ScotlandsPeople Team will be attending is the Who Do You Think You Are? Live show. The biggest family history event in the world, "WDYTYA Live" takes place at the Olympia Centre in London, from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th of February. Staff from ScotlandsPeople will be on hand at the event to help people who are looking to trace their Scottish roots, and also to give demonstrations of the website. ScotlandsPeople will be at stand 407, and the National Records of Scotland will be next door at stand 409. Electronic Downloads For a limited period we are reducing the price of downloads. From 1st December 2011, the cost of saving a Statutory Record/Census or Wills & Testaments image to a USB stick will be 30p. The cost of saving a Coats of Arms image will remain at £10. The costs for all our services, including prints or electronic saves, are detailed in our Charges page. Please use the form on our Contact us page to email enquiries.

The street indexes for the censuses have now been imaged and added to the ScotlandsPeople Hub website. Access the Census Street Indexes.
The statutory records available in the ScotlandsPeople centre are now being updated fortnightly. While the indexes are as up-to-date as possible, you will find that most of the newest index records do not have images associated with them. The images will be added as each registration district is examined and the images of the register pages are added to our image store.
Which records can only be searched at the Centre? Which are only available online? Follow this link for the definitive answers to all your queries about the records.
